How to Install Windows With a Pen Drive or an External Hard Disk.

http://www.webologypedia.com/2013/08/how-to-install-windows-with-pen-drive_31.html
This method is very useful when the CD DVD drive is not working. Here are the detailed steps:

Step 1:  Open the Command prompt in Administrator mode. (Go to start, search for command prompt, right click on it and click on “Run as Administrator”)

Step 2: Write the command Diskpart in the Command prompt. (This will open the Disk Management Utility.)

Step 3: Type list disk. (It will show all the connected drives to your PC or Laptop. Note the number written before your pen drive or External Hard drive you are using. It would be something like Disk 1, Disk 2 or Disk 3.) We will assume your disk is Disk 2.

Step 4:  Assuming your disk is disk 2, type select Disk 2 and press enter. (This command will select your pen drive or External hard disk for further actions.)

Step 5:  Type clean. (This command will erase all the data of your drive.)

Step 6: After it completes the cleaning, type create partition primary. (This command will create a bootable partition.

Step 7:  After you see a operation successful message, type select partition 1.  (This will activate the newly created bootable partition.)

Step 8: Type format fs=fat32. (This will format the partition in Fat 32. It will take a few minutes.)

Step 9: Type Assign.  (This would assign a drive letter to the flash drive you are using.)

Step 10: Now you just need to copy the installation files of the operating system into the usb drive. Please note that you need to copy the files directly into the usb drive and not into a folder inside it.

Step 11: Make sure you set the usb drive as the first boot device in the BIOS. Reboot the PC with the USB Drive plugged in and you are good to go.
